Wicked Big Meet 2012! Part 1

First off a BIG shout out to Subaru of New England who sent me to the show for free this year! I submitted a photo of myself and my car and a little caption about us and they selected me along with some other people to win two premium tickets! Thanks again! Here's the picture of all of us from their Instagram...
I'm the charming fellow in the blue shirt

Second off I have to say that this Wicked Big Meet was definitely the best one yet! I went last year and this one was a huge improvement over last years. There was much more to do and see and I didn't get bored as quickly as I did last year. Now onto the narrative...

We left around 6:00am or so for our 3 hour drive up to Stafford Springs, CT. It started out just three of us (Green LGT, Flat Black 2.5i, and myself) but we picked up the UGM STI right around the New York border and he stuck with us the rest of the way.

Please try to bear in mind that I took over 200 pictures and they simply all wont fit so I'll just get the highlights :)

That's me up there

Me again. Car looks really low ;) Needs more though
We finally got there around 9:00 just in time to for the early access with our Premium Tickets! My girlfriend has a lot of the other pictures of the show on her phone so I'll have to make another post including nothing but pictures. Here's what I have...
The line to get in. Poor locals ;)

lol.

At the show Subaru of New England was holding hourly raffles for SPT parts and everyone got a chuckle out of being in that. The HPDE (High Performance Driving Event), where drivers could take their own cars on the track was nothing short of awesome! Somehow watching someone beat on ad occasionally spin out the car they have to drive home never loses its appeal ;) I have a few laps worth of video from when the instructors took out their own cars too! These include a Subaru Legacy, Nissan Juke, and a '69 Camaro!

In one of the gravel parking lots off to the side there was also a rally cross stage set up and several race ready rally cars were tearing it up included Robert Champion's yellow ECS Bugeye! I also have a couple rounds of these shenanigans going on ;)

After our all day affair it was about 3:00PM so we decided we should start heading home. It was here that the real photo magic started happening. One of my buddies in the green LGT brought his iPad Pro and took some really awesome shots of my car. Let the eye candy ensue...

As we started to get closer to home these dark clouds looked more and more ominous

And then finally the skies opened up and blessed us with these couple sweet pictures! Never mind the lip falling off though, its a weekly occurrence for me :(

And last but not least I leave you with one of my edited Instagram photos. Again I'd like to thank Subaru of New England and everyone who made the show possible for all of us! It really was worth the drive and has been for the past two years! What better way to spend a weekend then driving it in your Subaru? I can't wait to see you guys next year with bigger and better plans!

PS. Stay tuned for the follow up post. I'll all of the pictures I have and the video I got!

  1. Wow! You were pretty lucky to be one of the winners of this very exciting and BIG event. The 3 hours you spent traveling seemed fun, and you certainly spent the time well taking beautiful pictures. It’s a remarkable experience to be in this event for free. I’m sure you and your girlfriend enjoyed watching the show. I’d love to attend this event too, and be a lucky winner of a ticket. :D
